This is the official website for Zarastudio 2.2, an upcoming release of the open source photo manipulation software used by professional photographers around the world. Zarastudio ia a program ive been developing since 2009. The application has its roots in my years-long personal passion for photography and painting, with a focus on manual workflows enhanced with powerful, intuitive features. In November 2011 I released a snapshot version of it that focused on enhancing creativity rather than productivity and lacked performance optimizations tied to rendering pipelines that were too complex for my limited time and resources at the time. After a short period of time, I received a lot of feedback from the community which showed me the direction Zarastudio should take. Now, one year later, I believe that what will be included in Zarastudio 2.2 will enable photographers to focus even more on creative aspects of photography by liberating them from unnecessary tools and streamlining their workflow. It will also track the advances made by established professional photo editing applications in recent years by providing complete RAW processing support and other features that are taken for granted today. The current stage of development is an intermediate snapshot with most major features already implemented, but with many bugs still to be fixed. The following list outlines what Zarastudio v2.2 will bring: The ZAR file format is based on the TIFF file format and uses the same compressed file format as Adobe Photoshop Thumbnail (PSD). However, all Zarastudio-specific features are contained within a proprietary XML block. This block is used to store settings and metadata and conforms to a specification that describes its layout and content: There is no support for native 16-bit color images or 32-bit float space at this time. There is no support for layers at this time. Zarastudio 2.2 is exclusively powered by Adobe's AIR runtime, which consists of the following components:Xamarin Studio will serve as a significant part of Zarastudio 2.2's future development and be used for developing cross-platform programs. A new contender in the cross-platform game, Xamarin Studio aims to create a universal development environment with source code sharing between its native mobile applications and web applications, which will also include the ability to test UI components on Android. The company has partnered with Adobe to release future versions of Zarastudio using Xamarin Studio 3.0, which is already in beta status. Zarastudio 2 will be accompanied by a growing list of tools and utilities that I'm currently developing or have completed in the past. This is an example of a tool I've been developing for Zarastudio's plugins interface. - A library of XML files (or "templates") that allows the creation of GUIs similar to Adobe Lightroom's radial filters. The library can be easily updated by users adapting it to their own needs using Adobe's AIR SDK, which is based on Flex, or through updating the existing modules included with Zarastudio 2.2. cfa1e77820
